SCoin
Introduction
SCoin is an international retailer specialising in gold, coins and products. With retail outlets in all major shopping centers in South Africa, as well as various airports internationally, SCoin has a large footprint of shops and locations to consider.
SCoin approached DNA Design & Project Management to redesign their retail and shopfitting look and feel for all of the retail spaces across the brand.
The Brief
The brief provided by SCoin allowed DNA full carte blanche on the interior design, in order to extend the retail look and feel of the brand, as well as the retail capabilities of the various locations. As most of the locations are on relatively small palettes, available space and usage had to be maximised. This meant the design elements needed to be modular and highly functional.
Design
Through design and planning challenges, DNA was able to deliver an inspired an uncluttered interior design solution. The design seeks to inspire a sense of weightless elegance. Cantilever display windows enclosed the shopfront, with shopfitting and cabinetry throughout being addressed in dark wood finishes. These are additionally complimented by extensive use of clear glass, and the use of accent lighting throughout the store to highlight and accentuate display pieces.
To compliment the exterior shopfitting, wooden bulkheads were used in cantilever across the reception area, and housed additional accent lighting. The finishing design element implemented was a fully leather clad, panel wall. This creates a sense of luxury and depth, and is a classic characteristic of this custom design implementation.
With the use of inward folding hinges, it was possible to make the entrance of the space invisible and safe when the shop was closed. The doors additionally hold cantilever display widows, which help the panels blend seamlessly into the rest of the facade.
Results
The completed solution is a beautiful, functional, modern and safe design which elevates the shopping spaces and the brand for both the client and their customers.
Although approved, this design has yet to be rolled out on site.
